This is an oil painting by the Swiss painter Marie Egg (* 1873, † 1959). She was trained in the circle of Lauenen veduta painters (Lauenen is a district in the Swiss town of Thun). This circle of artists was promoted by the veduta and decorative painter Ferdinand Sommer. Ferdinand Sommer’s most important pupil was the famous swiss painter Ferdinand Hodler, who began his career as an artist with this genre of painting (veduta painting). Marie Egg worked for the souvenir manufactory of Louis Hänni in Thun (Bernese Oberland), Switzerland.
The Austrian landscape painter Hubert Sattler painted a very similar picture of the Tell Chapel.
