Dora HAUTH (* 1874, † 1957)

Dora Hauth was a painter, graphic artist and poet who designed posters, national holiday cards and illustrated schoolbooks, among other things. She also painted commissioned portraits of Albert Einstein and Verena Conzett, for example. Dora Hauth was vice-president of the Zurich section of the Society of Swiss Women Painters, Sculptors and Craftsmen.

Due to his work as a journalist, the canton of Zurich revokes Emil Hauth’s right of residence and he returns to Germany. Dora and Emil divorce.

studied painting in Hans Schildknecht’s studio in Munich

1914
– Dora returned to Zurich and founded a painting school. One of her students was Ernst Nobs.
– publication of her lithographic portfolio ‘An der Grenze miterlebt’ (Witnessed at the Border) by Dora Hauth
– her graphic work is honoured at the first International Exhibition for Book Trade and Graphic Arts in Leipzig.
