Kintsugi Shop online

In the kintsugi Shop online, you can buy ceramics and porcelain pieces that have been repaired using the Japanese kintsugi repair method. Some pieces are finished with real gold powder, others with real silver and others with brass powder, but always with the original kintsugi technique, which uses urushi lacquer made from the sap of the lacquer tree. Instead of original kintsugi, the term traditional kintsugi is also used.

The exact metal used to finish each piece using the kintsugi technique can be found in the product description of each piece. Incidentally, if a piece has been refined with silver, it is not strictly speaking kintsugi, but gintsugi. This is because the Japanese word ‘Kin’ stands for ‘gold’, while the Japanese ‘Gin’ stands for ‘silver’.

Buying a kintsugi kit

If you would like to buy a kintsugi kit to make kintsugi yourself, you may be interested in the following kintsugi kit, which you can order from the Amazon online shop in Japan. A kintsugi kit with gold powder is suitable for beginners. Before using the kintsugi kit, however, you should definitely read the kintsugi instructions that come with the kit in English and Japanese (for example, you must wear gloves when using the urushi lacquer, as the lacquer can cause allergic reactions; others also recommend wearing a protective mask when using the metal powder):
