apprenticeship as a landscape and church painter, thanks to the support of the Abbot of Muri

– travelled to Munich, Passau and Augsburg
– possible encounter with the Swiss landscape painter Jakob Christoph Weyermann

returned to Muri, where he painted altars in abbeys and chapels
