St\u00e4bli succeeded in making stormy weather palpable to the viewer<\/a>. It is not without reason that A. St\u00e4bli himself said: \u2018My painting is experience, not invention.\u2019\r\n\r\nTogether with Otto Fr\u00f6licher (1840\u20131890), Adolf St\u00e4bli is one of the most important representatives of German-Swiss Paysage intime<\/a> with his atmospheric landscapes. While the paintings of the French-speaking representatives of the Paysage intime \u2013 such as Barth\u00e9lemy Menn<\/a> \u2013 appear inconspicuous and without effect, the paintings of the German-speaking representatives of the Paysage intime are characterised by sombre depictions<\/a>.\r\n\r\nAdolf St\u00e4bli is also associated with Swiss late Romanticism<\/a>.<\/strong>\r\n\r\n
